It's History
The Chelmsford Round Tables of Tindal and 132 have been working together to organise fireworks extravaganzas for over thirty years. As the fireworks have become bigger, louder and travelled higher we moved the display to Admirals Park by Rainsford road.
The first Saturday in November at 7:30pm is the date and time we have chosen to traditionally let the fireworks off. Every year we spend almost £9,000 giving the crowd of 10,000 spectators a fantastic pyrotechnic display of dazzling colours and deafening explosions lasting 25 minutes.
The gates open at 6pm with people being able to buy novelties from the gates, use the fairground, go on rides and try their luck on the amusements. There are hot and cold drinks, hot dogs, burgers, ice cream, toffee apples and much more. At 6.30pm the Radio road show starts up. This is a real crowd pleaser with Heart FM radio personalities presenting live bands and encouraging people to join in with the fun. Then at last 7:30pm arrives and the fireworks are let off.
We run this fireworks event as a way of making money to give to local charities, which support local people who are in need and to ease the burden where we can. Most years we raise in the region of £7,000 and with this amount of money we feel we can really make a difference. We normally give a big lump sum to a couple of charities and search out other worthy causes and help with smaller donations.
